Sketch a pendant before choosing components

Draw the front and side of the pendant at a simple scale. Mark the overall dimensions, the position of the bail or loop and any parts that must move freely. Label estimated measurements so they are not mistaken for checked ones.

List the materials and findings you expect to use, including the finish and size where known. Compare those details with the instructions for the project and with the tools you have available. Ask an experienced maker or supplier when a component’s fit is unclear.

Keep the sketch with the finished piece and record any changes made during construction. A note about what fit well can make the next version easier to plan.
